The SEW Cycling Series is a grass-roots effort by women, for women. Our ultimate goal is to grow the sport of women's cycling by providing an environment that is both challenging and fun. As a result we can show promoters that women's racing IS strong in the Southeast, and that we deserve a place at each and every race.
We are not affiliated with any promoter, event, or racing series. We created the SEW calendar by pulling together existing races. We are grateful to the race promoters who are willing to have Pro 1/2/3 and 3/4 fields and work with us on other requests as listed below.
Please help us make the series better by sharing your thoughts with us.
SEW Cycling Goals
- Growing Women's Cycling. Give women a goal of racing multiple events and earning points and prizes. A cohesive and consistent series of races held across the Southeast will open up new opportunities for women to compete and grow in the sport.
- Reducing Barriers of Entry to Beginner Women by providing a separate Category 3/4 race so that beginner women can enter the world of racing and have the opportunity to learn race tactics and bike handling in a more comfortable environment.
- Providing Quality Racing for Advanced Women by providing separate Category 1/2/3 race so that more advanced women to race in a competitive environment of other racers who understand tactics and handling and are prepared to compete at a higher level.
- Creating a Sustainable Series Where Women's Racing Is Profitable. Our goal is to establish a series that can run for years to come, guaranteeing the presence of women's racing with fields large enough to be profitable for race promoters and sponsors.
