The 2010 Schedule is POSTED!

Well, it's that time again!

Another race season is almost upon us, and we're gearing up to give women's racing a boost here in the southeast with the Southeast Women's Cycling (SEW) series!  If you're not familiar with us, SEW is a grass-roots effort for women to grow the sport of women's cycling by providing an enviroment that is both challenging and fun.  By working with promoters directly to increase their prize purses in exchange for providing a fair racing environment for women, we can show promoters that women's racing is strong in the Southeast, and that we deserve a place at each and every race.

Making its debut for 2010 is our Facebook Fan Page where you can follow the series, RSVP to races (and see if your competition is going), check out our new sponsors and upcoming programs.  Of course we're still on Twitter and have an RSS Feed, so that's another way you can stay in touch with SEW-on-the-go throughout the year!

Check out the new 2010 schedule HERE!  So get those base miles in, and we'll see you out on the road.

And Your Winners Are...

As we look toward the 2010 season, we want to know how SEW can make women's cycling in the southeast better for everyone!  Your thoughts are appreciated, and your input is valuable, so please CONTACT US with your thoughts and feedback.  We want to make the SEW series easy for our promoters and a worthwhile mission for our sponsors, while making it fun for you as racers.

Until next season, happy training!

Psycho Cross a "Slashing" Success!

Posted on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 5:15PM by Registered CommenterLeigh Hopkins | Comments Off

Halloween weekend's Psycho Cross was a "slashing" success, with over 120 riders who took on the cold, wet, and muddy conditions.  Riders came out in force (and some in costume) over the almost 1-mile long course that twisted and turned over the velodrome grounds.  Announcer Bruce Dickman did a great job calling the event - thanks Bruce!  WABE 90.1 FM Atlanta was on-hand to record some audio for their Atlanta Sounds series.  The "Blue Shoot" gave riders a chance to test their speed and handling skills, with a prize (and bragging rights) going to the rider who could beat the run-up and stay on his/her bike.  Maybe we'll have a winner next year!

Without further adieu, your 2009 Psycho Cross women's results are:

  1. Jennifer Horn
  2. Krista Eckhart
  3. Elizabeth Lee
  4. Amy Frank
  5. Beth Gearheart
  6. Gwyneth Lodge
  7. Amanda Komestat
  8. Fyla Hopkins
  9. Trish Albert
  10. Alexandra Miller

And a big Congratulations to Andy Harper for winning the pink Earth 1 cruiser, donated by Jamis!  Thanks to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket, all of the proceeds went to SEW and the East Point Velodrome Association.  (photo credit: Phillip Morrissey)

Finally, thanks to everyone who came out to ride, spectate, or simply lent a helping hand to make this a great first-time event for the cycling community.  Hopefully the grounds will be re-seeded soon and we can go bigger and better for next year!

Cheers,

The Women at SEW
